Raleigh County Parks and Recreation Authority Hosting Check Presentation at Fitzpatrick Park
BECKLEY, WV – The Raleigh County Parks and Recreation Authority (RCPRA) will host a check presentation ceremony at Fitzpatrick Park on Wednesday, June 10, at 10:45 a.m. to recognize the award of a $37,000 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) from the West Virginia Office of Energy.
The event will highlight ongoing efforts to improve recreational facilities and invest in energy-efficient infrastructure throughout Raleigh County and the state of West Virginia. The grant will fund the Fitzpatrick Park Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrades Project, which will replace outdated softball field lighting with modern LED fixtures. The improvements are expected to reduce energy consumption, lower maintenance requirements, and enhance visibility for evening practices, games, and tournaments.
Fitzpatrick Park serves as one of Raleigh County’s premier recreational facilities, hosting youth athletics, community events, and regional tournaments throughout the year. The lighting upgrades will help extend field usage, improve safety for players and spectators, and support the continued use of the park as a destination for recreation and community engagement.
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and administered in West Virginia by the West Virginia Office of Energy. The program supports projects that reduce energy use, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen public facilities across the state.
The public and members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony at Fitzpatrick Park, located at 896 Fitzpatrick Road in Beckley.
